Before this I have wondered why there are many Bible versions in English. Is it
not a mess if everybody starts translating his own English Bible? I did not
really care about it anyway. I used my first English Bible for some time. Then I
started to notice that some verses are skipped in that Bible. The whole verse is
gone. From there I began to check it carefully and discovered the discrepancies
covered in this article. It was a real shock to me that the Bible could be
simply altered as such. I have thrown away that Bible. With new heresies
emerging, there will be even more 'Bible'
versions perversions. To obtain copyright, any new 'bible' must
be substantially different from others so we can imagine there will be many
doctrinal deviations. Also, if a bible cannot be freely distributed due to human
copyright then it cannot be called the Word of God. Jeremiah 23:36, 2
Corinthians 2:17 (also in the list below) and 2 Corinthians 4:2 mention about
corruption of the Word of God. Nevertheless, God shall preserve His Words
(Psalms 12:7, 1 Peter 1:25). Some purposes of the alteration are to:
1) say that Jesus Christ is not God, attacking Christ's deity (e.g. Ephesians
3:9).
2) take away the doctrine of Trinity (e.g. 1 John 5:7).
3) complicate salvation (e.g. John 3:36).
4) conceal Satan's name (e.g. Psalms 109:6).
5) dilute morality (e.g. Galatians 5:21).
6) toughen Bible interpretation, e.g. change to difficult vocabulary or vague
meaning (e.g. 2 Timothy 3:16).
7) alter historical or geographical fact so that the Bible seems erroneous (e.g.
Mark 5:1).
I use King James Bible (in short, KJB, KJV or AV) to benchmark. It should be
fair to use King James Bible because it is being used since the year 1611 and it
is now in public domain. That means it is not bound (2 Timothy 2:9) by copyright
of anybody or organization for profit so it can be freely printed. And I will
always quote verses from a non-copyrighted Bible, not only in this article but
also in other places to avoid any copyright complication. It is also called
Authorized Version and the reason it is called so is valid. King James Bible is
based on Byzantine text from Antioch in Syria while most modern 'Bible' versions
are based on Alexandrian text from Alexandria in Egypt. In Antioch the disciples
were first called Christian (Acts 11:26). King James Bible distinguishes
precisely between the second-person singular (thou, thee, thy, thine) and second
person plural (ye, you, your, yours).
I do not think the translation of King James version has been inspired by
Holy Spirit but is just the most technically accurate version. The translators
were strictly scholastic and let the Apocrypha remain between Old and New
Testament, neither part of New Testament nor Old Testament, like the previous
translations (KJV is the seventh English translation). Apocrypha was not
inspired by God as evidenced by its inappropriate teaching such as Tobit 12:8 (For
alms doth deliver from death, and shall purge away all sin). It has never
been in Jewish Bible (Tanakh) and no longer remains in the Bible today except in
e.g. Roman Catholic Old Testament (Roman Catholic Old Testament contains more
books). King James I said, "And as to the Apocryphe bookes, I omit them, because
I am no Papist, as I said before, and indeede some of them are no waies like the
ditement of the Spirit of God."
I denote the alteration as strikethrough and underline. Strikethrough means
omission and underline means addition. If a strikethrough is followed by an
underline, it is a replacement. If I have any short comment I put it in bracket
and in italic right after the verse. The verses are in biblical book sequence.
Let us start inspecting the Bible.
