Imported Fresh Produce Is Unnecessary

Weaknesses of imported produce:
  1. Chemicals, such as pesticide, fungicide, preservative or paraffin are applied to keep the food fresh. For example imported green apples can be kept for one month.
  2. The cost of delivering the food outruns the value of nutrition consumed. The nutritional value also deteriorates in transit.
  3. It is not given time to ripen on the plants so the taste is not that good.
  4. Heavy packaging creates more waste.

Do not buy the imported fresh produce at all so that merchants will stop importing it. Buy local produce instead. Buy directly from the farmer if possible so that their hard work is not exploited by middlemen. Local farmers will be motivated to produce more.
