Screensaver
I do not use screensaver. Instead I set the Power Options Properties to turn off the monitor after some time.

Screensaver is actually for CRT (cathode ray tube) monitor. It does not save the screen for LCD (liquid crystal display) screen but instead deteriorate it. LCD functional period decreases along the light-up time.

Below are some hidden settings for screensaver.

'Screen Saver' tab disappears

Click 'Run...' in Start Menu.

Type regedit and click OK to open up Registry Editor.

Go to HKEY_CURRENT_USER\Software\Microsoft\Windows\CurrentVersion\Policies\System.

Modify DWORD Value 'NoDispScrSavPage' from 1 to 0. Then go to Desktop and push F5 to refresh the Desktop. The 'Screen Saver' tab should appear by now.

Grayed out screensaver options

Open up Registry Editor. Go to HKEY_CURRENT_USER\Software\Policies\Microsoft\Windows\Control Panel\Desktop.

Delete String Value 'SCRNSAVE.EXE'. Refresh Desktop. Now the 'Screen saver' drop-down list should be active. Likewise, delete String Value 'ScreenSaveTimeOut' and 'ScreenSaverIsSecure' to activate the 'Wait' and 'On resume, password protect' options.
